Solid Oak Hardwood Furniture originates/emanates from the original F Peart & Company in Hartlepool, originally created around 1923. I purchased the company in 2003 whilst going in to purchase a wire strainer – my wife still has not forgiven me!
Originally we called the company Classic Teak/Teak Garden Furniture. and whilst the latter still exists I could not get our presence noticed within the “www” empire that rules everything we do today. So a few years ago, Paul – my IT guru – simply said “think, what do you do and use?” hence, Solid Oak Hardwood Furniture. We use lots of beautiful Burma Teak and African Iroko, always certified, legal and traceable, as well as British Sweet Chestnut when specifically asked for it. Other hardwoods can be used for specific projects if and when required.
The companies values and traditions have never changed. We still manufacture here in Hartlepool, we are still a family business, have tremendously high values and work ethics. Mortice and Tenon joints all glued and screwed with matching dowels cover the screw heads.
Our client list is second to none, many of whom have been with us for years. We are proud to supply The Royal Parks, NHS, English Heritage, The National Trust, numerous Golf Clubs, many local and national councils. Memorial benches represent a large part of our production as we pride ourselves on a caring and sympathetic approach to each and everyone. We also are part of BALI with all its top quality landscape contractors. We work with these to create and supply bespoke furniture to enhance garden makeovers and national projects.
Going forward, we anticipate steady growth, as a great many people and companies are now favouring a British Made product as opposed to the mass produced options readily available from Garden Centres and the large DIY stores – whilst costing more initially the longevity and sheer good looks of our furniture far outweighs that initial spend.
